Travel by Train
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is serviced by The Airport Express Line, which is a fast and convenient airport train service to Hong Kong island and Kowloon. This service leaves the airport every ten minutes, with a journey time of 20 / 25 minutes. There is a complimentary shuttle bus service from the railway stations to many of the hotels.
Travel by Buses
The airport bus station is situated by the Ground Transportation Centre offering a fast and efficient service to many districts in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the surrounding area. Services also travel to and from Discovery Bay on Lantau island. There is a shuttle service which travels short journeys from the airport.
The Airport Tour Coach station is situated on the same side of the Ground Transportation Centre as the bus station and offers regular transportation services to and from the province of Guangdong. This service operates from 06:30 to 19:30.
Travel by Limousines
There is a wide selection of private car limousine companies available at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and the service counter is located in the airport Ground Transportation Centre and also in the Arrivals Hall. Limousines provide the perfect way to travel in style to your Hong Kong hotel. Limousine services operate to and from Hong Kong Airport (HKG) and can be leased at an hourly rate if required, although minimum charges may apply. The limousines can be booked in advance or from the airport's Ground Transportation Information counters.
Travel by Taxi Cabs
Taxis are readily available at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) outside of the Ground Transportation Centre, close to the airport's passenger terminal. They provide a convenient and easy way to travel into nearby Hong Kong city and other destinations. The journey from Hong Kong Airport into central Hong Kong will take around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Official Hong Kong (HKG) airport taxi cabs should be used at all times to ensure safety and also to avoid being overcharged. Some taxis do not travel to the Discovery Bay.
Taxis at Hong Kong Airport are color-coded as follows:- Hong Kong Airport Red "Urban" Taxis - travel to all destinations in Hong Kong, except for Tung Chung Road and south Lantau
- Hong Kong Airport Green "New Territories" Taxis - travel to the New Territories region and parts of Lantau
- Hong Kong Airport Blue "Lantau' Taxis" - travel to all parts of Lantau
The airport taxi meters in Hong Kong start at a basic fare, but additional charges are usually made for heavy luggage, late-night driving and travel on public holidays in Hong Kong, so it can prove useful to ask the taxi driver about these before leaving. Some Hong Kong Airport taxis are happy to accept credit cards.
Ferry Service
A ferry service is available at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and this links Chek Lap Kok and Tuen Mun, in the airport's Northern Territories. The airport's ferry service operates daily between 06:00 to 23:00 and makes a pleasant and scenic way to travel. A bus service connects Hong Kong International Airport's passenger terminal with the ferry pier.
